Winchester Mystery House

If you don’t believe in ghosts and the spiritual afterlife, spend one minute at the Winchester Mystery House and you’ll change your mind. This is one of the most bizarre, yet beautiful mansion located in San Jose and at one time was home to Sara Winchester, widow of firearm magnate William Winchester.

Construction of this mansion began in 1884 and it didn’t stop for 38 years. The “Mystery” of this house is not just the spirts of the Winchester rifle victims that haunt the mansion, but the mansion was built with some mysterious and odd features.

Sarah Winchester built this mansion without an architect and she had carpenters working on the mansion day and night until it was seven stories tall. Some of the odd features and construction includes doors and stairs that lead nowhere, windows overlooking other windows and rooms, and stairs that are uneven and awkward.

Although the mansion in San Jose, CA was built seven stories high, it now stands four stories tall after the 1906 earthquake that damaged the property. Sarah Winchester had carpenters make repairs but the mansion was never the same.

This mansion is a historical landmark in San Jose and guided tours are provided every day, if you can muster enough courage to enter the home and meet some of the spirts that haunt the home to this day.

tow truck 24 hour towing san jose

Owning a towing company is a tough job and not for the lazy.  Becoming a tow truck driver usually means that you’re operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week because its a service that is needed at all times throughout the day and night.

Towing San Jose CA is no different because the residents of San Jose are frequently commuting throughout the city in congested traffic. Where there is more traffic, there are more accidents or possible breakdowns that may occur, which means more people will need some sort of towing service.

Here are what make some of the best San Jose towing services that local towing companies can offer its residents.

24 Hour Towing

Needing a tow comes unexpectedly.  You never planned for it to happen, it just did.  Whether it’s 2pm in the afternoon, or 2am in the morning, your vehicle could break down at any moment without you knowing.  That’s why it’s important to have a 24 hour towing company in San Jose in your back pocket for the occasional late night roadside assistance.

Late night towing in San Jose is a frequent request because people are always commuting from one place to another in this highly congested city in the bay area.  San Jose is home to over 1 million people, and this densely populated area sees more people driving on the roads than any other city in all of California. Whether people are driving home after working night shift, or people are passing through San Jose on their family vacation, there is hardly a time when the roads are open and traffic doesn’t exist.

Some of the best 24 hour towing companies in San Jose will relieve you of possible stress induced panic attacks as you await for help in areas that you may not feel comfortable being in.  There are many different roads in San Jose, and not all of them are safe for people to be driving on. Whether it’s because of the surrounding neighborhoods or underdeveloped construction, some San Jose roads are to be avoided at all cost, especially if you are stuck on the side without a functioning vehicle.

If you’re going to be traveling through San Jose on vacation, or you are new to the city, use a map to know exactly what roads you will be taking while operating your vehicle.  Make sure these roads are in safe areas and are accessible by any sized vehicle. Know your safe route for traveling and stick to it no matter what. While deciding what route to take, you also must plan for gas, food, and any other necessary stops that you may need to take while commuting.  This will help avoid further problems and complications if your vehicle does decide to quit on you when you least expect it.

Fast Towing Services

Needing a tow is probably one of the biggest inconvenience for people who are commuting from one place to another.  Your vehicle breaks down when you least expect it, and your stranded on the side of the road waiting for someone to assist you.  This is why it’s important to find a towing company in San Jose that can arrive within minutes.

Towing companies must know the San Jose traffic like the back of their hand and have an idea of possible alternative routes to take to arrive at the destination in a timely manner.  The congested traffic of San Jose can cause a tow company precious minutes if not accounted for. It may not always be best to jump on HWY 101 to get from San Jose to Sunnyvale, or even sneak on HWY 880 for a trip from Milpitas to downtown San Jose.  Understanding the traffic of San Jose and properly navigating the roads is an absolute must for local towing companies in San Jose to provide fast and immediate towing services.

The time of day will greatly affect how fast a towing company can arrive to the site.  Obviously if someone is requesting a tow at 5pm on the side of HWY 101, then they can expect the towing company to take a little longer than usual to arrive.  5 o’clock gridlock in San Jose on HWY 101 is not something anyone wants to be apart of because sometimes it can take 30 minutes just to travel 1 mile. As a customer, understanding the situation and the time of day will set the right expectations for how soon a towing company should arrive to your vehicle.

Heavy Duty Towing

Towing companies that can offer heavy duty towing in San Jose will save a lot of people unwanted headaches.  Heavy duty towing is a popular request because of the large commercial trucks, tractors, forklifts that partake in the hustle and bustle of San Jose traffic.  Many tourists also make their travel plans through San Jose and you’ll often see RVs and motorhomes needing roadside assistance from time to time.

Without heavy duty towing in San Jose, many of these vehicles would be without help if they happen to break down and start working.  Typically, the bigger the vehicle, the bigger the problems, which makes heavy duty towing in San Jose inevitable for people operating big rigs throughout the San Jose streets.

This heavy lifting will require a different towing truck on scene to effectively and safely load the vehicle on to the bed.  Tow trucks that are fit for the regular commuters do not have the right equipment to handle big rigs, and are not capable of carrying that type of weight from one location to the next.  Towing companies use their own big rigs to help safely relocate your big rig to a specialized auto shop that can operate on these specialized vehicles.

Advice from Towing San Jose

With nearly 1.7 million vehicles registered in San Jose and all of Santa Clara County, you can expect a number of these vehicles needing towing services every single day.  The amount of people driving in San Jose is not declining either, which means more and more people are hitting the road. What we expect to happen with more people on the road are more accidents and a greater possibility of vehicles breaking down at some point while commuting.

Although the amount of vehicles on the road is what’s keeping local towing companies in business, it’s also damaging our environment with the excessive amounts of CO2 that are emitting into our atmosphere.

We understand that alternate means of transportation is not always possible, but we do advise carpooling, biking, or even walking in San Jose if it’s appropriate.  Who would have thought, a towing company advising you to use your car less…

It’s that time of year again for madness! March Madness has been coming to San Jose for years, and it has officially completed another successful year of NCAA College Basketball playoff games. The games were played at the SAP, home of the San Jose Sharks, and featured teams like Virginia Tech, Oregon, Liberty, University of California Irvine, Wisconsin and Mississippi State.

San Jose is the perfect place to host this college basketball playoff because it has plenty of local businesses to take on the type of tourism that comes with this sporting event.

One of my favorite spots to enjoy the thrills of March Madness is The Farmer’s Union. This bar and grill is located just a few blocks from the SAP center on W. Santa Clara and S. San Pedro St. It’s known for a historic hub for beer and comfort cuisine. It has plenty of seating with good views of TV’s that are spread out around the bar. The Farmer’s Union has a 4.2 Google Review rating with over 900 reviews.

Another great spot in downtown San Jose to hang out during all the madness is Rookies Sports Lodge Downtown SJ. This place is Spacious, light-filled watering hole offering American eats, tap brews & huge TVs for sports fans.

Didn’t I say it was a great spot?

What more could you ask for when enjoying March Madness games? Rookies also has a great online reputation with a 4.1 Google Review rating with nearly 300 Google reviews.

Parking is an absolute nightmare in downtown San Jose during this time of March Madness. It should be expected with people traveling hundreds-thousands of miles to catch the basketball games. It’s best to park a few block away from the SAP center at a local parking garage or hotel and pay $5-$20 for parking, depending on the spot.

With just a few blocks to get to the game, many people walk and tour San Jose leading up to the game, but everyone’s favorite way of getting around was using the rental electric scooters that are located at different charging docks.

With all the events going on during March Madness at downtown San Jose, our local towing company wishes everyone the best of time, but we also ask that you make smart and safe decisions while drinking. Please do not endanger yourself, or the lives of others by getting behind the wheel intoxicated. Instead, give us a call for a ride to your car, or use Uber or Lyft to safely get to your destination.

There’s only one way to honor St. Patrick’s Day and that’s by drinking green colored beer. This brings the Irish out in everyone on this special day of drinking with friends. San Jose is a great place to celebrate St. Patty’s Day with different parades and events happening throughout downtown San Jose.

Here are a list of the top places in, and around San Jose to spend your St. Patrick’s Day.

Bruno’s Bar and Grill

Cruises last 3-4 hours depending on whether you depart from San Jose, Oakland or San Francisco. Tickets are being sold for $30 per person.

I must admit, I’m not much of a hockey fan. In fact, I have never seen a live hockey game in my entire 30 years of existence.

I grew up in Oregon where Hockey isn’t really a big deal. I’ve never really had an opportunity to go to a game, nor have I ever been dying to get tickets.

However, my wife got 4 tickets to a San Jose sharks game against another team that had a uniform on as well (for the life of me I can’t who the sharks played). I was happy to hear that we won these tickets because 1: I didn’t pay for them, and 2: I’ve always heard how fun the San Jose sharks are to watch.

With four tickets, we asked a few friends to go with us and catch the game. It was a Monday night, so it wasn’t the best day during the week to stay up late and fully experience the San Jose Sharks without dreading having to show up to work on Tuesday morning in the back of our minds.

Either way, we had a great time. We parked our car just outside the SAP center a few hours before game time and we walked a couple blocks to one of the coolest bars I’ve been to; O’Flaherty’s Irish Pub.

it’s located right on S San Pedro St, just a few blocks South of the SAP center. The beer was awesome, the food was AMAZING and the atmosphere was full of pumped up San Jose Shark fans pregaming for the night.

I could have stayed at the bar and kept eating and drinking the fine local food, but we were in San Jose for hockey, not for dining.

After watching my first hockey game, I must say that it’s a sport unlike any other. You can actually hear the players every movement as their skates hit the ice and as they hit each other. The slap of the puck on every shot hit every wall in the arena. Everything was so alive, and people were having so much fun cheering for their local San Jose team.

The sharks won by a few goals. Every goal was celebrated with loud music and horrible dancing, but everyone was doing it together so it was more fun that way.

I would say that my first hockey game was definitely a success. I’m already wanting to go back for another game, but making it a night out in San Jose as well.

There are a few more places that I would like to pregame at in San Jose before my 2nd hockey game. The Farmers Union sounds like a good time with 4.2 stars out of 5.0 with over 900 Google reviews.

If you have any recommendations of where we should enjoy our next experience in downtown San Jose, please feel free to share in the comments!
